My son has a 93 Dakota - V6. He wants to install an aluminum radiator. He says he has heard that the stock radiator is a problem leaker. His is not leaking but he wants to do some preventive maintanence. I can't find one anywhere. Does anyone make one for this truck. I think he should leave well enough only. What do you think?

I got a 93 with 230,000 miles, original radiator, but an aluminum would be much nicer, I will keep checking here to see if anyone knows where to get one...

I'm with you, better to leave well enough alone. The stock original is more than enough for the stock engine.

Id say leave it... Unless theres coolant residue forming on it, when u take a look under the hood after driving it and see a light mist of white come off the radiator, or it looks gunked up inside.

the factory radiator in my 95 lasted until dec 2003. I purchased a new one from 1800radiators.com, they were cheap, excellent warranty and great service.

you may give them a call and see what they offer for your truck (they are the largest seller of radiators).

my stock radiator went bad two years ago but never leaked. all of my fins deteriorated and i replaced it with a stock one again. the stock rad is good enough to cool the 5.2 so the 3.9 will have no problem, he would be wasting money to put in an aluminum on a v-6.
