Subject: '94 won't start. IP: Logged
Message: My '94 dakota suddenly stopped running and I haven't been able to restart. I replaced the coil but I not getting any spark from it. What is the next logical place to look for the mal-function? Could this be a fuseable link gone bad.

Message: I get all the dash lights. I ran that self diag. code thing with the check engine light and it returned 3-4 and 2-5. I don't always trust these code though. I just replaced the coil, rotor, and cap.

Message: Check the large wiring harness underneath the washer fluid jug,on the drivers side. These years are known for corrosion in the main power wire to the computer.Pull the harness apart and look for a thick red wire.It corrodes where it branches off to two smaller wires.Check the wire to the sensor on top of the bellhousing where it meets the motor.

Any other ideas?

Message: The only other thing that I can think of is the Hall Effect pickup, underneath the distributor cap and rotor. It is a flat disc, over top of the dist. shaft, that has a wire attached to it and it reads the position of the distributor shaft.

Message: I hate to say this but when I experienced that on my 88 it turned out to be my SMEC (Computer-not sure what they call it on yours) Definately try the hall effects pick-up first though, they aren't much money and it won't hurt anything to replace it.
