Subject: elbow on airbox IP: Logged
Message: I have had my elbow on the airbox removed for about a week or so now and havent really noticed a difference in anything. I want ot put the elbow back in, but am having trouble. I cant seem to fit the darn thing in. It came out relatively easy, but is a b*tch to put back in. Any recommendations?

Message: You have to take the airbox out to put the elbow back in. do you have any other mods like a K&N filter or exhaust? You'll need at least those to notice anything.

Message: I took off my elbow about 2 or 3 months ago and pulled the rubber flap back and immediatly noticed a difference. I have the drop in K&N filter also. Better throttle response and it roars right at 2000 rpm. I've got 96k on the truck and the first time i took it out after removing the elbow it felt like a brand new truck. No problems yet even driving on the highway in the rain, just a little more dirt on the filter element.

Message: before i went cold air i did the same thing and i actually prefered the sound it made then but going cold air k&n was way better on power. you did mention if you pulled the flap back but that makes all the difference. all though you should remember the way the box works once it fills with backed up air it makes no real difference except more accessible air....try just building your own air intake and putting a cone filter right in front of the missing flap....as long as you dont do excessive offroad or anything with water!!!
