Subject: changing diff. oil

Message:
there is a post about someone changing differential oil at only 43,000 miles. Isn't that a little soon? Guess too soon is better but could you get more mileage before doing this? I wanted to ask if I should be worried about my axle being a little wet looking where it goes into the pumpkin. It's not soaking but looks like some drainage at that joint. Is that normal? I've got about 40,000 on mine.

Is this the rear axle

If so and wet near the brake drum yes replace the
seal

Pinion or cover a little drip is ok but not normal
should not leak at all check the level should be
about 1/4 below bottom of plug cold level with
the bottom hot

change around 60,000 miles
