When you say they replaced the brakes-- what all components? calipers? pads? rotors? master cylinder?

some wildass suggestions...

brake assist? Does the 05 use bosche brake assist? Wasn't that what GM had the recall for?

Master cylinder? Booster? Maybe the pressure to the front brakes is pulsating..left on, right off then right on, left off.

Abs? Take it out for a spin and lock it up, check the skin marks and see what happened :)

Tell the dealer to sod off and give you a new truck!

Rob;
Sorry to hear you're having such a huge problem with an '05.
Another tack you could use with DC Corporate and your dealer.
This is a safety issue you could lose steering control or braking and you want the truck declared a lemon now. Not when they give it back to you after the 10th fix. Now as in Monday morning.
If this were me I'd also be calling NHTSA and reporting every one of these incidents and requesting an immediate NHTSA investigation. If DC has 150 other vehicles in you zone that do this then DC has a HUGE problem.
I flipped out when the rotors on my '01 CC started warping at 9,000 miles.
I thank god I live in WA State where there is a real lemon law in effect.
Good luck and keep us posted.

Ok
Corp was down on friday.
they took my truck for a ride and agreed to take it back

BUT....at MY COST
I have to pick something else at MSRP no rebates no nothing.
They give me MSRP for my truck and I have to pick anything I want at MSRP.
PLUS ( this is amazing ) this is NOT A LEASE
but I still have to pay milage for use? at 46 cents a mile and I cant get any payments back becuase why? I had the truck ? I am totally screwed here. All I can do is keep the truck and they will up my 7-70 to 10-100. Other than they wheh they get a fix they will fix it? I figured it out and its a lessor hit if I go to ford and trade it in. ateast then I can get a deal........ARGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGG

that's totally unacceptable.

Are you positive they were from corporate and not just pretending to be? Did you get business cards from them? you may think this is a joke, but i've seen things like this before.

Contact the BBB (www.bbb.org) and file a complaint with them. Give detailed records of the problem (# times, what items they replaced) including names of those at the dealer and at corporate.

Do some searching for "federal lemon law" on google and read up. Contact a lawyer.

Contact your local news station, they may have an investigation team who will happy to assist you in this problem. bad press for DC and the dealer is not something they want. Considering they are one of the few who are not in financial or recall trouble (RE: Ford, GM and toyota).

Walk into the dealer, demand to speak to the owner, do this during a busy period of the day. See if they will trade with you, if not, indicate your laywer will be contacting them then walk out - even if they try to stop you, tell them that they had a chance and blew it, it's time for you to do what you have to do.

Good Luck.

I agree with dan, you need to tell them you will be consulting a lawyer. You have the right to get the vehicle you paid for, and if they agree to take it back it should not be to their profit. i would sue them for lost time, your payments, and a new truck. piece of mind comes with that, but thats not a monetary value.

I have card from everyone I have been dealing with. Yes I am possitive.. Unless the cards are fake. Anyway I am contacting a lawyer today for help. I cannot believe this is happening.. DC and the dealer could care less. I have called the 800# and complained and they say its up to district to decide what to do.. Well those are my options above.. NH Lemon Law what a deal .....

Rob;
There is no mention of "per mileage charge" with a non-leased vehicle they're pulling one over on you.
There is a area in Section V that speaks to "a reasonable allowance for use" and specifically states the mathematical formula to be used to calculate the allowance.
Go read Section V at the link Dan posts above and you'll see what I mean...
Oh, and did you get a copy of the New Hampshire lemon law when you purchased the vehicle? You should have if you didn't I bet the state would like to hear about that :-)

V. If, after a reasonable number of attempts, the manufacturer, its agent or authorized dealer or its delegate is unable to conform the motor vehicle to any express warranty by repairing or correcting any defect or condition covered by the warranty which substantially impairs the use, market value, or safety of the motor vehicle to the consumer, the manufacturer shall, at the option of the consumer within 30 days of the effective date of the board's order, replace the motor vehicle with a new motor vehicle from the same manufacturer, if available, of comparable worth to the same make and model with all options and accessories with appropriate adjustments being allowed for any model year differences or shall accept return of the vehicle from the consumer and refund to the consumer the full purchase price or to the lessee, in the case of leased vehicles, as provided in paragraph IX. I have had the same problem with my 05 Dakota almost word for word and was told the same about the mileage but they are only charging me 18 cents per mile. I agreed to pay the mileage charge and picked out a new Dakota but have been waiting over two weeks for the paper work from chrysler corp. so they can finalize the deal. This is the first time i have done any research on this problem and after reading the messages from others, i myself may change to a full size. Take my and the advice from the others, DON'T buy a dakota until they have fixed this problem.

I have a 2005 Dakota that I just bought and wish I would have read this forum before buying. My trucks shakes too. It seems to me that it happens when the brakes heat up. The rotors are not cooling enough and they 'warp' abit then cool of and are fine until the next significant stop. Instead of 'f'ing with the dealer, I may just put a set of slotted and drilled rotors on and see if that fixes it. The dealer I bought it from (in Fort Myers, FL) is owned by a family of old money and will more than likely give me the run around as well

Slotted and drilled are the best way to go, and might i suggest ceramic pads too while your at it. They dissipate heat alot faster, don't squeak, AND remove the need to clean your front wheel as much due to brake dust.

If it ain't broke, fix it til it is.

I think I have a solution to the shotty brakes on the 2005's. The factory balanced tire on my QC were pretty bad. The fronts had all kinds of weight on them and the rears had very little weight. The difference was that the front were weighted different on each side. The rears were weighted the same on each side. So... I rotated my tires and drove the piss out of that truck and I cannot get the front end to shake like it did... at all. So, everyone with a blender for a front end may want to get your wheels balanced. It worked for me. Good luck.

I am having the same shaking problem with my 05 Dakota SLT V6. After two attempts to fix it the dealer finally looked up the truck on the bulletin notices and saw there is a problem with the rear differentail that affects the front end. I will update after they try to fix it again later this week.
