Subject: Another Throttle body question IP: Logged
Message: I have read post after post of people getting wonderful gains using a Flowmetrics throttle body with an aftermarket exhaust and intake. I've searched for it, but i think the company musta gone out of business or something. I know that speedtweeks.com is gone, which is where someone said they got it.
So, the question is, will the holley twin 52mm tb a good one or not? Also as a different question, how hard is it to install new headers?

Message: It's Flometrics without the "w". Go to http://www.fbthrottlebodies.com
The 52mm is way more than you can use. Not only that, it is larger than your manifold ports.
Depending on your experience, brand and type, installing headers is straight forward and fairly easy.

Message: thanks N56629.
Which do you think I would get the most out of the 48 or 50mm. I have a volant cold air intake, gibson dual catback, will be getting gibson headers, and a venom 400 performance chip. I think im between mild and "modified" V6.

Thanks for opening a whole new world of V6 peformance products! I bet that PCM chip would kick my venom 400s @$$. Damnit, i need to shop more before i buy.

Message: Stick with the 48mm. It makes absolutely no sense to go any larger unless you plan on modifying the intake manifold. the bores on the manifold are only just a bit over 47.5 mm. If F&B's 48mm is in fact a true 48mm, it is still too large. The bores in the manifold determine the maximum flow, not the throttle body.

Message: Even if you were to enlarge the intake manifold bores to something larger than 48 mm you will not gain anything by exceeding the size of 48mm throttlebody. Exceed the 48mm size and you will experience loss of low end torque.
92 and 97 Daks both with many mods.

Message: You are right, but if the manifold is smaller than the tb it doesn't matter what you put on top of it. You could put a 52mm on top and it won't flow any more than the 48mm, in fact, it might even flow less.
"Exceed the 48mm size and you will experience loss of low end torque."
I assume that you are referring to the tb and not the manifold. If you enlarge the manifold and leave the tb at 48mm, you won't lose a thing. Ideally the manifold should be the same size as the tb or larger.
