LARRY, I HAVE A 2002 QUAD CAB DAKOTA 4X4 3.9, 5 SPEED. MY QUESTION IS HOW MUCH GAS MILLEGE AND HORSEPOWER WOULD I GAIN IF I WERE TO PUNCH OUT THE CATALITIC CONVERTER(S), (NOT SURE IF IT HAS ONE OR TWO)ON MY DODGE? AND WOULD IT TRIGGER A CHECK ENGINE LIGHT?

Punch out your catalytic converter? I don't know what Larry would think, but I think you would just hurt your hand.
Just one question. Do you know what the inside of catalytic converter looks like? Most cats flow as good as or better than stock mufflers. Do a cat back first.

That would be a temp fix if the cat was pluged
Actualy that would drop performance and yes it
will trip codes
Best thing to do is replace with a high flow cat
the comp was designed to run with the cat in the
system
There are many simple mods that will help
cold air intake
bigger throttle body
1.7 rockers
try the IAT relocat about 6" from the throttle
body in the air tube just drill a 1/2 hole and
screw it in does not need to be grounded this
will lower the reading from around 200 degrees
to around 100 and does 2 things, advances timming
and adds more fuel
crank sensor mod
Once the intake side is done do the exhaust, my
nephew just put a flowmaster single tail on his
97 and it sounds great 50 series $150 summitracing
headers and a high flow
do the mods one at a time starting with the intake
side
