Subject: Help Clutch slipping

I'm not sure if the clutch is gone or if there is a different problem that has eluded me for the moment

I was doing some minor rock crawling on thursday and on the way back home along the highway all of a sudden my clutch gives in 5th gear. Now after 2 days of driving it slips in 3rd and 4th

Normally I would figure the clutch is gone but I just bought the truck last month and it only has 50,000mi on it. Upon inspection the resivoir (I believe it is for the clutch, small resivoir above the brake booster) was over filled and under pressure, I siphoned off the excess fluid and this improved the slipping slightly. Thoughts? Clutch assembly not releasing properly? pressure plate? disk?

Other than that I removed about 20 small rocks from the skid plate and while doing so I noticed that there is a gap between the scatter shield and the tranny, is this normal or is something missing?
