Message: Auburn gear makes a good LSD. I'd go with 3.90 or 4.11 gears, depending on what size tires you wanna go with and what type of accel you expect. check out randy's for the goods. I dont remember their exact website... search on randys gears or randys pinions

Message: There may be a sticker on the drivers door or in the glovebox that tells you the gear ratio, if not you can call a dealer service department with the last 8 digits of vin and they can look it up.
I think i recently saw an episode on trucks! where they put in a powertrax.

Message: on my dak the gear ratio is listed on a sticker on the underside of the hood. I also saw the trucks episode with power trax. they liked it. I have no personal experience but surfing around I did find a few people who complained about the unit chattering under certain circumstances. I suppose I could live with the chattering as long as I had traction! If your primary need for traction is for going in the snow - be aware that a locking rear differential (lsd, power trax, or a true locker) will only help a little in the snow - there's simply no weight in the rear end. as long as you set your expectations beforehand, you wont be disappointed.

Message: i know there is no weight in the rear end....just looking for help in the snow...i also read about the chattering...they said its part of breaking in so something along that line before the chattering stops...also another question...do you want to go bigger number for gear ratio or smaller??

Message: Do you know what gear ratio you have? 3.55 is fairly common on the automatics - but your stick is probably different. do you want to change the ratio? you dont need to unless you are going to larger tires or if you want to increase your towing capacity. for instance, I put 32's on my jeep (up from the stock 27's) and had to go from the 3.55's to 4.10 to get my gearing back near stock. On my Ram I am switching from 3:55's to 4:10 to boost the towing capacity.

possible?
