About 5 years ago, I had a recovered theft Honda Accord towed into my shop. The entire interior was striped out, seats, dash, console...everything. Once we fix it, the guy comes to pick it up and takes one long look inside and asks me "Where did you get those seats from ?" I told him which wrecking yard I got them from and asked him why he asked. He looks at me and says "See how the inserts and headrests are done ?" I say "yea", he says "well thats not stock, I had that done to my seats a month ago, those are the seats that were stolen from this car!"
Some folks at that wrecking yard went to jail over it and I had to go to court but what are the chances of that happening?

The hot item around here getting stolen is tail gates.
It seems to be happening while people are at work on late shifts.

aka is correct, if they pulled you drive shaft they were probably going to flatbed it outta there or roll it some where close by.
Tailgates get ripped off alot here too, I replace about one a month. F150s seem to be the tailgate of choice to steal though.

Hey Tim,
Where I live a very well known VW/Audi/Porche "salvage" yard (I won't use any names) was shut down and the owners jailed because of that very thing. Seems they were answering demand for parts for stealing cars and stripping them.
I hope they're the "room service" in prison. LOL

I got on for ya, I have a 95 Dakota 4x4 SLT and some pain in the A#@ stole my speedometer sensor, yeah I am not kidding climbed under the truck and stole it. They also stole the front driveline. I was able to locate and purchase a new front driveline but that dang sensor is hard to find after visting 12 Dealers, and getting 16 wrong parts I am about to give out. Anybody have any luck at find a speed sensor for the 231 d?? is so PLEASE let me know where you got it.
