Subject: Water pump on 3.9L IP: Logged
Message: Hey, a friend of my dads water pump went on his 95 Dakota, is there anything special i should know about doing this job, or is it gonna be get the fan off, pull the pump, and reinstall? its a bolt on pulley, and i believe i'll be able to hit the fan off the same way i do at work. I work at a Ford dealer, never touched or looked at a dodge before. Thanks for any input.
Later, Bill

Message: change the t/stat and the bypass hose while your at it. you don't want to have to pull the pump again to change that bypass hose.

Message: straight from haynes (I also have a 95)
disconnect negative battery cable
drain coolant
loosen fan mounting bolts & remove belt
remove fan and shroud assembly & water pump pulley
detach coolant hoses from pump
remove pump and replace
alldata says to remove the radiator.
If the timing chain hasn't been replaced, now would be a good time. Check all of the other coolant hoses.
