Message: I dont think the engine will mind it much, but the rest of the drivetrain will care, especially your U-Joints, and if you are a do it yourself mechanic it wont take too many U-Joint replacements before you get fed up with it. I had to do one on my 88 Dak and it took like an 2 hours just because of how ceased it was into place. plus carrying around like 50 lbs or more of driveshaft gets tiring too

Message: Rob, you are right about those U-joints. The ones on my '89 were so seized I had to take a torch to them (heat them up) just to get them to move! Yeah, Justin, you definitely don't want to be replacing those, they are REALLY annoying.
Aside from drive train wear, in Washington state at least, doughnuts and burnouts can be construed as reckless driving. Just a little legal consequence that should be considered.
I almost got a ticket for it once. Was doing doughnuts in a parking lot in the snow, and, while spinning my rear-end around on my front tires in 2-wheel drive, I saw my friend pointing from his car toward the entrance. Yup, cop. Lit me up, came up to my window, and said "I counted eight." Didn't get a ticket, but a stern lecture on reckless driving. So, take it easy on the doughnuts, okay ;)

Message: How do you pay for tires? If i had the money, i would be doing them all the time, but i dont. You are a lucky Basterd for getting a nice cop, how did you get off the hook with just a stern talking too. All the cops around here a crooked. They dont give a sh*t, they just want to get you for anything, and I mean everything. Iam also trying to figure out why my truck is a cop magnet, do yall have that problem too? I mean they will pull me over for anything, i have only gotten one ticket, but it got thrown out in court. I have been pulled over 3 times, but they had nothing on me.

Message: Heh, cops everywhere are crooked. I think I didn't get a ticket because I was on private property, and the cop knew that I would be able to get it thrown out. Glad I wasn't on the road or something!

Message: Holy crap! Now there's a cool cop. I wouldn't mind doing some doughnuts in one of those cruisers. I knew a Pierce County Sheriff Deputy who was on traffic. Had a Chevrolet Caprice with one of those Corvette engines in it (LT1?). Those thing would do KILLER doughnuts, and I would fire up the lights while I was doin' em!!!

Message: Back when i was in college (4 years ago) i had a friedn who had a Fiero AM6...
It was 2-3 in the morning. we were up all night working on our studio projects... He went out doing doughnuts in the street (on school campus) and the cop nabbed him.
He was lucky, we sorta knew the cop cause he was the guy who patrolled the building we were in. he knew us since we were there always...
he let him off with a stern lecturing, and said that "We didnt need any more Mario Andretti's"
lol...
lucky a$$.

Message: Me and my friend were in a Meijers parking lot doing donuts in the winter. The security guard came up to us and said he was going to call the cops if we did not leave. We basically told him to f off and leave us alone. He did call the cops, and when the cop got there he just watched. My friend had his video camera with him, and was taping all of our fun. He wanted to go ask the cop if he would tape us so we would get to see what it looked like from the outside. We pulled up next to the cop to see what he was doing (thought he might of been writing out my ticket or something). The cop was just sitting there watching. So my friend, who I thought was just going to get us in a world of trouble, asks him if he will record us. To my surprise, the cop said "SURE." So not only did I luck out and not get a ticket, I got to go home and watch my self go crazy in a parking lot for 20 minutes.

Message: im in MN with snow all over if you want to know.
i was spinning donuts at 11:30 pm in a large private property church with not a single car there. i only whipped 5 donuts (not even big ones, i was going 20 mph max) and was at the exit of the parking lot when a cop came going like 50 with lights a blazzin. now, i had always heard that on private property, its not illegal to practice spinnouts and things like that - my driving instructor from a couple years ago even said that once. yet i recieved a careless driving ticket, $145 fine, and insurance is probably bound to raise a min of 50%. i dont usually mind cops but i never seem to get a warning (only had1 other ticket besides this though) and i hate it when the law f u c k s me up the a s s. i was just wondering about all this and id like some advice. thanks!
(by the way, this happened tonight and i am extremely pissed)

Message: Hmmm...dunno what to say about it cept it sounds like you got shafted. I wrecked into a sign at my highschool Wednesday and all I got was lectured and about $1000 worth of damage to my truck. I basically did a donut into the sign, but it wasn't cuz I was trying to pull a donut. I lost control while I was pulling out and overcorrected and then all that centrifugal force caught up to me and whipped me into a quick 180* spin. The school cop who's also a city pri...err cop said I was PURPOSEFULLY trying to spin out and all that b.s. (even though he wasn't even there to see it) so I could have been charged with the same thing you got except for he told me he wasn't allowed to do it. He basically told me I'm lucky I was on private property cuz otherwise he'd be writing me a ticket. So...since I'm totally rambling now, my guess is, the cop bent the rules a bit and wrote you a ticket even though he legally couldn't have or your state laws are different from his. Another thing is I think he could have done whatever he pleased if the owner of the church property called the police...maybe you got caught by the owner and never knew it?
My $.02...

Message: Legally - I don't think so, but don't quote me on that cuz I'm definitely not an expert with the laws, cops these days seem to make new rules as they go along, so that very well could be what he did. I would think he'd have had to have seen it, but maybe seeing your tracks was enough?

Message: I did a burnout in a truck I use to own and broke the pinion shaft off flush with the diff housing.
I started the burnout on old pavement with gravel on it and transition to new pavement where it broke. The black marks ended there! The increase traction of the new pavement was too much for the parts. :-(
So be careful what you do and where you do it.
