Ok, genius, how would you go about gaining 100hp and what would it cost?

Message: dont sweat it N56629, he's not looking at gaining 100hp.. just critizing the people that do.
i gained 200 hp and 275 tq while spending around $2000... but that's also getting 8-10 mpg and the loss of reliability.

Message: saved that article, thats for me man. i love how he did the layout of the STS kit but showed how to do it on a budget. which exact turbo would be the best to spool up on a 3.9 with no lag, just any "T3" that i find on ebay?
'o2 red sport cc2wd auto, cai, fastman tb, slightly modded intake manifold, 180 tstat, no clutch fan, 1.7 HS rrs, injector sync, 3923s, summit cap rotor & wires, catco cat & summit muffler, 4.10s & powertrax

Message: I used a TB0301 off of an early Buick 3.8. No lag at all and full boost by around 2200 rpms. It had the internal wastegate set at 7.5 lbs boost and put that in the intake manifold according to my gauge. It could support up to 10-11 lbs boost up to the redline.. but a T04B would be a better option if you really wanted more post.

Message: awesome, thanks intense. i think this would be much more attainable for me than ripping out and doing a stroker rebuild, not to mention the cost difference. now if i had the money, a remote turbo setup on a v6 stroker, mmmm....

Message: Just curious...
I was reading on another forum that the engine management program bugs up when it sees 0 vaccuum at less then half throttle. Also would i loose my brakeing power cause of the lack of vaccuum during times of boost
Thats been the only thing thats been stopping me.

Message: when i first turbocharged mine, it did the part-throttle/part-boost "kick" because it was fruggin with my map sensor. I was at bernd's shop that he use to have and he wired in a diode and resistor to the map sensor to keep it from telling the computer greater values than it reads normally. This worked out great.. never had any problems after that.
brakes were no problem.. you're not constantly making boost. During normal cruising and light throttle, you're still making vacuum... and then your factory vacuum resevoir and the check valve keep enough for it.
.. in other words i never had any trouble with my brakes.

I need the power on hills when im pulling a trailer.
If it was very streetable then do tell us where u put the diode and resister and the specs of both.

one even with a blown head gasket.. still did good. I no longer remember the specifics of the diode.. just that it was tied into the map sensor to limited it's readings.

Message: I remember Bernd having a MAP sensor modification for super/turbocharged dakotas listed on his site. I may have a copy of it. Let me look for it and if I find it, I will post it.

Message: I think i found what to do...
All im doing is stopping the map from reading zero vaccuum.
If the turbo guy was correct id use a 4.7v zener diode in the 1/2 watt to 1 watt range. Its just there to dump any voltage that goes 2 high to ground so the map wouldnt show zero vaccum at half throttle.
Any one correct this if this is wrong. The turbo install i was planning a couple years back may restart if the fix is that simple

Message: i remember that first you had to check the MAP sensor voltage with the key in the on position but the motor off... that would be your max voltage... different trucks vary from one another.

Message: Ahhh ok then from there id choose a diode that would prevent a zero vaccuum reading.
Thanks
