Subject: Intake gasket replacement IP: Logged
Message: I see on my 88 3.9 that the front cork gasket on the intake is leaking oil BAD. When replacing this am I required to replace that cork gasket or can I do like they do on Small Block Chevrolet engines, and toss the cork and just run a good bead of RTV silicone sealant in place of the cork? Can the old intake gaskets that go between the intake runners and cylinder head be reused? Or is it once the seal is broken The gasket HAS to be replaced. What does everyone suggest,id like to hear different opinions and experiences if possible. Thanks in advance

Message: Replace the gaskets
It comes in a set with new ends and intake gasket
Use silicon in all 4 corners where the end gasket
head & block meet
set intake down on straight making sure you don't
push the ends out although some have dowel pins
and some little aligning buttons and the ones
with nothing holding them can slip out easy
during instalation
