Hello,
I've been searching all afternoon for an ansswer to this problem, but I can't find any info.
Perhaps somebody here has an answer??
Problem.....I purchased two replacement heads for an 87 3.9 ....both are casting number 979.
When installing the intake manifold, I find that there is a slot (on both heads) to the side and then going over the top of the intake hole that is there for the EGR........
HOWEVER, The other side ALSO (same casting #) has the EGR slot, and the intake manifold DOES NOT cover this slot......
Neither does the intake manifold gasket...??
I spoke to the rebuilder, and they INSIST that both heads are the same and interchangeable.
ANY IDEAS - ANY PLACE TO GO FIND OUT??

Appreciate your reply, that's what everybody insists.
However - What happens to the EGR slot that's open on the pass side?
Nothing covers it??????????????
