 Subject: Voltmeter Pegging

What will cause one's voltmeter to occasionally peg at the high mark? As soon as I put more electrical load on it - like turning on the lights - it drops back to normal.
No problems - yet - but it is disturbing.

A bad or missing ground connection. Check all straps and ground wires, including at battery.
