Message: I found some test data for Halo Plugs. It's a pdf document and very lengthy. It does show controlled test data but does not show the testing agencys for legal reasons.
I put a set of these plugs in my Nissan Frontier and increased my mileage by %17.2 This was not a controlled test by any means. However the results posted on the http://greenplugs.com site was under a controlled environment.

Message: Regarding Dewpoint's question on plug torque.
OB.. suggests plug torque effects performance. I agree, a loose plug would allow compression leak. Not good. A properly torqued plug would "feel" and pull snug as the compression ring is crushed. This is commonly performed without using a torque wrench even with aluminum heads.
Your basic 3/8 drive ratchet handle is held near center (leverage point) where the "torque" point is a hard stop applying average strength after the seal ring crunches.
Plug gap and heat range would be variables that effect plug performance. Not saying using a torque wrench is bad, commenting on seating the plug slightly loose or over-tight would not effect anything.

Message: your correct GREG . More plugs are installed with no torque wrench then with one. Shops do this all the time . As a rule, if the head threads are clean, you can snug the plugs down and crunch the gasket with 1/2 turn . This is the reason mostly to replace the gaskets. They only crunch once. Taperd plugs with no gasket Seem to work the same way. 1/2 turn after snug. Differance is the tapered plugs will reinstall the same way over and over.
So many problems .... So little time
