I got a Superchip and it is worth the $$$$ it helps alot! It is kind of spendy. If you buy a used one make sure you get the recipt in case you need an update. If you get one that needs an update and you don not have the recipt it will cost you bout $200 bucks for the update!

It is only for 98 and up. There were some big changes to the computer between 97 and 98.

not quite wise guy as far as DC is concerned OBDII is OBDII no matter what year. the only diff is the fine tuning of the computer fuel maps and additional inputs for the secondary O2 sensor. that does not equal a big difference. all it does is not re-program for the second O2 as that is what I did on my 96 and it works.

Sensors were changed as well. There is a difference. You're correct, OBD-II is just that...however, the manufacturer code and sensor configurations are different.
