Rocker arms sit on top of the push rod and the valve stem.

As the engine turns, the rod gets pushed up aginst the rocker arm and the rocker arm pushes down against the valves and the valves push back and the whole process reverses itself.

Depending on the ratio they will stay open a little more. Roller rockers also have less friction than stamped rockers. The less resistance against the engine components moving, the better.

They are very easy to replace :)

The valve covers are the hardest thing to remove/install cause of all the hoses and wires in the way.
