Buy spark plugs, buy a gap tool, set the gaps on the plugs... use a socket wrench, the proper sized socket (5/8" deep well, I think), whatever extensions and u-joint you need (depends on which plug your removing). Pop the wires off the plugs (I usually remove one at a time so I don't mix them up), put the socket on the plug and break the old plug free, remove it, replace with new plug. Repeat with all 6 plugs. It's pretty self-explanitory... the most difficult part is if the plugs are so tight you break it off (never had that happen but heard the horror stories) or when the plug breaks free your hand slips and shoots into the engine compartment...I'd suggest wearing some heavy duty gloves. I really gashed my hand open good on a farking zip tie...a ZIP TIE of all things!

Oh yeah...as far as plugs go. If you got a lot of mods...you can try Autolite AP3923's (single platinum tip--one range cooler) or if it's pretty much stock, Autolite AP3924. Make sure you go with the AP and not APP which is a double-platinum tip and doesn't usually run real well in our trucks. Gap em around .040 and see how it runs from there...

spend the 20 bucks for either a HAYNES or CHILTON service manual for your '97 DAK. it will be a big help for you if you're just starting out.

from the sound of it, you aren't real familiar with vehicles(correct me if i'm wrong)but, do some reading in that manual before starting the procedure. you'll suprise yourself with what you can do with a little common sense and mechanical aptitude.

of course, if you have more questions, just ask.
FYI, I use BOSCH regular platinum plugs in my '00 and they work great.

Second that. Get the Haynes or Chilton, they have tons of pictures and good instructions. Make sure you have everything you need before dismantling your vehicle, unless you have a parts runner car. If you can't figure it out or get stuck come back here.

heh. i'm with Josh on the wearing gloves thing. unless you've done it before, its hard to tell where your hand might end up if/when the plug or wire pops off suddenly.
unless you don't mind making a blood sacrifice to the dak gods. (damn hose clips)
;)

after i changed em once, i didn't really need the gloves the next time i pulled my plugs for adjustments.

If your facing the trucks engine, stand to the
left side closest to the distributor cap.
Looking at it from this angle it goes...
Top Left: Spark Plug ONE
Top Right: Spark Plug THREE
Bottom Left: Spark Plug TWO
Bottom Right: Spark Plug FOUR
Middle Area By Knob: PLUG WIRE TO PLUGIN BELOW
