Dont give up hope guys, you have to remeber that our trucks are just that, trucks and they were designed for torque and pulling not acceleration.
Thats where mods come in and I think its perfectly fair after all, it is nice to have a few mods to beat Beatles and still be able to handle a load of plywood if we want!!

98 Dak Sport, 4X4, 3.9 V6 Magnum. And yes those beetles are FAST! I have come to the conclusion the only way to beat one of them is to start losing weight. So I am going to take out the spare tire, drain the gas from my truck, cuz we all know that 1 gallon of gas weighs 7 pounds.

But I am not going to stop there. lets see...4 quarts of oil weigh 9 pounds, so I will drain the oil. Antifreeze....27 pounds, transmission fluid, 15 pounds...there, instead of having a truck that weighs 4000 pounds now, I will have one that weighs 3800 instead. That should be enough to beat them little beetles.

IF those were turbo beetles, you would have been able to tell. My old Cutlass would do about 135 mph topped out, and she did 13 in the quarter (no traction), but one of those friggin turbo beetles wasted me on the hiway once. We were even until 130, then he left. I ran hard trying to catch him, then something broke! Collapsed 2 lifters, scorched my cam, and had to tow it home. Had to sell the old girl after that.

Moral of the story is, Turbo's are quick. And the regular beetles are no slouch either, they don't weigh much.

I have a dodge dakota sport 3.9 v6 magnum and i can beat my friends vw bug turbo diesel. they do have good acceleration but i guess not as good as my dodge. plus my dodge is a magnum and it has a flo-glo sport exhaust. bugs are more aerodynamic than trucks too so that's a big reason why they could win too.

well, i changed my mind. i drove my friends bug today. my dodge could beat it at the beginning but at about 60 it would probubly smoke my truck. that bug has great acceleration in 5th gear.

I still wanna see a beetle try to haul a 20' Fiberglass boat (2800lbs) from a Steep angle ramp. Better yet, I want one to try to haul it to start with!

Oh yeah, Like FazDak said, How many sheets of plywood will a Beetle hold?

Heehee, just pickin on the beetle, YES they are cute & Quick. HELL NO I won't trade my Dak in for 1.

We can modify our trucks to beat them dang critters!

Death to the Beetle! :p

they are 115 hp 3000lb slugs. slow as all hell. auto beetles are up in the 19s.

on a related slow note i was just screwing with a Sentra GXE with my SE-R and lets just say i made the right choice. and i didnt even try him off the line where I would murder him worse. As it stood he was comin up my but full speed and i waited for him to almost catch me and hit the gas and i just left him...it was weak. but he was gettin better gas milage with his 1.8...oh well.
