Subject: Frustrated with electrical problem IP: Logged
Message: I recently picked up an 88 Dakota Long bed v6.It sat for 4 years and now im working to get it road worthy. It has no brakelights or turnsignals. The flashers are good. When the 4 way flashers are applied, only the front lights flash. And when you use the turn signal lever no lights flash, front or rear .All fuses are good and I replaced all bulbs with new ,correct ones.No brake lights either. I have running lights all the way around. Is there a relay I need to look at? Where should I start? Any help is certainly appreciated.

Message: Sounds like connection problem
probably close to back of truck.
Check joining connections in harness up under
just in front of rear bumper
also check any chassis ( ground connection )
should be in same area.
The ' running lights ' at rear, are possibly getting their
ground return thru the 4 way signal lines
instead of proper ground/chassis return..

Message: get yourself a test light and probe the wires,
a chilton or hayes manaul with the wiring diagrams can be helpful[it will give you the color codes of wires]
pick one thing and work your way threw that, take your time and don,t make it harder then what it is,wiring is quite easy
