 Subject: best double roller timing chain?

I have 95k on my truck and want to replace the timing chain before it breaks on me (i've searched on the forum and seems like the chains go at 100k)and I've heard to change to a double roller setup. What's the best one out there and about what price do these run? Also, do I need to run a tensioner with that setup or is it just a good idea to run one?

tensioner = fix for a normal chain
roller chain is its own fix
look at it like this tensioner = bandaid
roller chain = real fix
cloyes is good. there is one on www.summit.com it's edllebrock, but someone said it has the same number as the cloyes one. so they may be the same one. goes for around $60.

The Edelbrock chain is not worth a crap, the Cloyes is a much better chain. Also, the Comp Cams Hi-Tech chain is a nice one. I recommend using the tensioner with any chain replacement. Even a double roller chain will stretch in time. Add the tensioner and forget about it. Just my opinion.

Rollmaster is the best. Comp is very good. I wouldn't touch a Cloyes with a 10 foot pole. I've seen too many disintegrate - literally.

Thanks, where can I get the Comp cams or the rollmaster chains? Do I need to get a new timing gear setup to run a double roller or just use the stock one i have?

We sell them of course. :) The Rollmaster can be tougher to find. Comp is available through most speedshops. They come with new timing gears, so you get the whole set.
