I have a 91'dakota 4x4 with overdrive. Today it started not going into overdrive.It will shift fom first into second and second into drive smoothly but will not shift into overdrive.Any Info will help me greatly.

Several things can cause this. Faulty dash switch, cold engine, bad solenoid, bad wiring connection between solenoid, PCM and dash switch, misadjusted TV cable, .....

At times it will go into overdrive then kick right back into drive. It will do this several times and sometimes it will finally go in and stay in. I think the switch is working because I can push it taking it out of overdrive and it will not try to go in at all. I had my Trans. fluid and filter changed and it didn't help at all.
