Subject: Larry, whats your opinion? IP: Logged
Message: Larry I need your opinion. Up until oct. of 2004 I have always owned Ford products. Oct. of last year I bought a 2002 quad cab Dodge Dakota 3.9, 4x4. So far I love it. I runs, rides and drives wonderfully. It has 45k miles on it now. I was just wandering when I should replace the spark plugs and with which brand. I have always used Autolite in my Fords but I need to know which would be the best to use in my Dodge. My engine is still totally stock except for a K&N air filter which is in the stock air box. Price dosent matter because I have always been a beliver in the phrase "you get what you pay for"! I'm using Mobile 1 10w-30 synthetic in the engine with a Fram Extended guard filter. Point is I want this engine to get the best millege possible and last forever! Thanks Larry!

Message: If its running well with the stock heat range
stick with it untill you do more mods to the motor
or get any pinging than drop 1 heat range
The champ truck plugs run well that is what is in
there and recomended 30,000 change its what they
come with from the factory
We use only the Autolites at the shop and never
had any complaints most say they run better its
what I run in my stroker motors
Autolite $0.99 walmart
5224 is the extended tip plug same as the champ
truck plug reg heat range
reg plug gap .040
Autolite plat tip $1.89 walmart
AP5224
gap .045
Some stock trucks react very well to 1 range
colder plug better low end and gas mileage and
worth the $6 to try them and see how your truck
reacts
Autolite 3923 gap .040
If it don't react well your only out $6
Find a Napa parts store and get a MO26 and MO28
cap and rotor made by borge warrner they have
solid brass incerts and will transfer more volts
to the plugs a set of MSD 8.5 super conductor
wires will also help on the stock ign around $60
get for a same year 5.2 perfict fit with 2 wires
left over
On your 4X4 I would change out the rear end fluids
to either Amsoil or Royal Purple 75w90 it will
help a lot with power and gas mileage especialy on
the 4X4's its very noticeable
Trans and transfer case Amsoil universal synthetic
fluid
Transfer case is recomended changed every 30,000
miles hold about 1 Qt 1 3/16 wrench or socket
needed to get the 2 plugs out top plug is also
fill level
You can find the royal purple at summitracing.com
just put it in the serch
Doing these few simple things will get you 1 to
3mpg gain
A tonno cover will also help a lot with less drag
I have the Extang Toff tonno III and I love it
3 years old and still looks just like new and my
box is dusty it never gets wet if you need to
haul something big it just rolls up and has 2
velcrow straps to sucure it
Its amazing how all these little things help
Have Fun
Man I seen a chevy sonoma pickup today at the
store what a joke comparied to any dakota

Message: For one get rid of the Fram filter they suck! I don't care what people say, they are the worst filter. I ran them in the past, and at idle the oil press. drops. Run a Pruolator or STP brand.
I have very good luck with these, and oil press. holds 65 to 70 lbs. My truck has 126,000 miles on it. I've always ran Bosch plat. or Autolite plat. plugs.,with good luck.
