Subject: help IP: Logged
Message: i have a 98 dakota with a 3.9 auto
after putting in a new battery the check gauges light come on. it seemed the altenator wasn't charging. put in a new altenator and the same thing it's just not charging, could it be the voltage regulator or maybe the ecm ??? it just totally died and help would be greatly appreciated.

Message: try checking all of your wireing connections, alternator, battery, grounds to block.. then look at the alternator wiring connector, could be a bad connection in there somewhere...i think thats probably your problem

Message: I had the same problem with my new battery. I took some sandpaper and scrubbed the terminals on the battery, then clamped them back down. Worked like a charm.
