 Subject: sometimes won't idle

I have a 97 dakota 3.9L with 55k miles. I first start it, it runs good, idles well. I drive a short distance then restart it 5-10 minutes later and it will not idle, it dies. It will run good driving, but I stop and it dies again. I can keep my foot on the gas and keep it at an idle of 700 RPM and it runs smooth. It is not every time either. it may go a few months and no problem, or in warm weather. One reply I got they said to change the idle control motor. will I have to make any adjustments after changing it? Is this the right part to change?
