 Subject: Blinker Problem

My left blinker stays on whenever I put my headlights on at night. (It doesn't blink) My blinkers function good during the day when my headlights aren't on. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
1988 dakota. 3.9L 2WD

Do you mean that the blinker lite stays on inside the truck on the dash board w/headlites on and the blinker is lit up and not flashing? If thats the case, I'd change the lite bulb and see if that's the problem.

Yea, the blinker light inside the truck stays on, I don't believe the blinker (outside) stays on. It wierd that it only happens when my headlights are activated...

When I read the topic, my first thought was a flasher problem. But, I've not heard of any issues with the turn signal coming on when the head lights are turned on. Maybe a wire issue such as cut, nick, etc?? Maybe a problem with the switch? Have you checked to see if it comes on with both high and low beams?
Just some wild guesses.

I had a simmilar problem happen on another truck. It ended up being a bad trailer socket on the truck. It would ground out and feed back such a low voltage that it only made the lights in the cab operate like the brake controler would blink with the blinker or other odd things would happen.
Could just be a corroded light socket causing it to feed back lighting up the blinker light in the cab.

i have a friend with an 89 that has that problem, except his dash lights dont work anymore either, it happened after they took out the radio and cut the connectors, still no radio in it. with the lights on the blinker light is lighted and nothing else, but wasnt that way until the radio, so i would check your radio harness. sounds wierd but it may help
