Subject: whats next on the list of mods IP: Logged
Message: i am just trying to figure out whats the next step in making my truck more fun and faster. i work at a custom van shop in detroit and we are a distributor for about everything on wheels but back to the point. i need to know what to plan for my spare time for the next couple weeks?
i have:
cold air intake
v8 tb
zex nitrous oxide 50 shot
160 thermostat
electric fan
clutch fan removed
ac pump removed
new 3923s
3inch pipe from y pipe to muffler
dynomax muffler
2 3/4 turn down
mopar pcm
i would like to know whats next?
also since i took out the ac pump the mounting bracket is still there i looked at it and i was woundering if anyone has shopped the ac pump mounts off, to make it easier to get to the inlet hose and to make the thermostat more excessible?
what will happen if I bypass the heater core with a hose? how will it affect the temp of engine?- trucks heat is no concern.
is it better to relocate the ait sensor or to put an extra on behind the grill- then do i have to diode isolate the inputs. or should i get one of these dial adjusters. i have variable resistors at work, is it possible to use on of these, what is the range of this sensor?
well thats all my questions for now thanks for any responses!

Message: I would upgrade the nitrous from the 50 shot to a 75 shot. I ran the 75 shot in my truck and it dropped a second and half off my ET.

Message: instead of chopping the AC mount, you should try and find a stock braket for the alternator only. It will look much better, and give you the access you need.
The only thing removing your heater core will do is decrease your coolant capacity. It should not affect the performance of the cooling system.
You might also look into shaving some more weight from the truck. Sometimes those gains are free and therefore a better bang for the buck. One thing that I can think of is your spare tire. If you dont travel alot, it is an extra 50+ pounds of weight.

Message: yeah he is right you might try to lose as much weight as possible if you are an avid racer. weight is something the dakotas have alot of and losing some is the best performance upgrade for free.

Message: well i already removed the spare tire and jack setup.
also i thinke intense dakota has a gen2?
but i am gonna check
well it sounds like i need to make a fake
fiberglass tailgate
i didnt know dakotas came with out ac in 92, cause i couldnt buy a belt for non ac anywhere.
i had to measure it to fit?
so i assume finding the bracket will be even harder.
plus id rather reshape it, I take more pride in things I make then things I buy its part of the hobby.

Message: larry the year of this truck is 92, i also have a 90 3.9 with 275,000 miles. i couldnt get the pcm by name at the local dealer. so i gave them a part number and had it the next week. i kept the original one, but there was some paperwork in the box to send back the old for a hundred bucks? i figured it would be nice to run 87 if times got bad one day. Thanks for the offer for the rollers rockers what is the price of them new?

Message: larry i just looked at the transcat instructions. it seems kinda complicated, i also didnt see a price? but what really boggled me was almost all the parts were stuff at a auto store except a cupped orifice, 1-2 governor plug and a accumulatorblocker rod. this is gonna sound really cheap, but my friends dad is a manager at a trans shop. could i just get these parts or are they different form tci. i just like the fact of saying i have made something, but i would rather not make something break.
thanks!
