Subject: reprogramming the ECU IP: Logged
Message: I just bought a '02 dakota that was a meter reader truck in a former life. I have found out that the computer was reprogrammed to cut power back so the meter readers didn't get to wild. LOL! Is there a way to bring it back to factory specs without buying a programmer?
Also, if you hit a good mudhole and water gets to the engine it stalls and sputters till it dries out. What is getting wet and how do I best water proof it?

Message: The muddle puddle thing is probably your dist-cap/rotor getting wet. All you need to do is replace it..easy fix...as for the computer...better wait for someone else to reply...sorry!!

Message: Well if they used some sort of detuner on the stock computer Id imagine if its just a program and not a "Chip" inline 2 the comp,You could dissconect the battery Neg cable then turn your key 2 start for 40 secs or so.. this would "restore" the stock computer program by wiping the memory if the detuner was reprogram job. If that didnt work.. look for a little black box @ the ECU connected 2 one of the harnesses.. Good luck.. N dont forget 2 reattach that cable ;).
