Subject: Which catalytic converter to buy? IP: Logged
Message: I have a 96 3.6L 4x4 dakota and the cat has gone bad. The rest of the exhaust is fine since its stainless steel I want to keep most of in on there. What are my options for not spending lots of money and just getting the cat replaced? I see auto zone has a universal for $60 some,a local exhaust shop qouted me $250 just to replace the pod and leave all the pipes. I was thinking I would just buy a good one and take it to a shop and have it welded in.

Message: pay an extra $20 or $30 for a hi flowing cat and get yourself a nice hp gain. i have 2 1/2" pipes with a magnaflow hi-flow cat and a flowmaster deltaflow 50 series. the cat was $90 and the muffler was $110. i paid meineke $40 to install the muffler and paid my trusted mechanic $170 to install the cat. the cat was expensive to install but it was in a tight spot and needed to be sawed of by hand, and i have the piece of mind that my new exaust system was completely inspected by a pro. this system gave my sluggish v6 some spunk.

Message: truckperformance.com has the carsound made by
magnaflow universal slipfit around $90 high flow
design
Just cut the old 1 out slip it on and clamp it
leave the section where its cut out 3" shorter
than overall length of converter so you have
1 1/2 ince into each side slip fit no welding
needed
