Put it back in the hole it came out of.
Honestly, for best engine efficiency, intake air temp should be measured closer to the engine.
If you removed the IAT sensor, I hope you put something in the hole, or you'll be running lean and hot.
You're one of those guys, I'll bet, who thinks if you move the intake air temp sensor to someplace cooler, you get more power from the engine. Well, that's true ....kinda.
It richens up the air/fuel ratio a wee bit. That doesn't make it more efficient, just makes it run richer than necessary for conditions.
Personally, I don't want my exhaust pipes, expensive catalytic converters, or expensive O2 sensors (I have 4) all sooty from the over-rich mixture.

Message: If you have a cold air intake, drill a hole in your intake tube in a convenient location and screw it in there. If you're using your stock air box, no clue.
I understand "Have a plan's" point if you wanted your engine running perfectly for what it was designed for...but if you're doing small mods to get a lil more power, then modding it will be helpful. My grandpa is one of those ones whenever I have a problem he blames it on all my mods and says return it back to stock and it'll run better. Haha...yes, it may...but it'll also run weaker n dog sh!t as well. I don't think moving the IAT sensor is gonna make it run so rich you're going to have a ton more soot than with it in the original position.
Sorry if I don't make much sense... just got off work and am soooo ready to hit the sack.

Message: drill a hole in the side of the airbox below the filter and install it there. to be honest, my truck didn't like it when i moved that sensor. there was no diff in perf and mileage suffered. each of these trucks has a diff personality. try it and if you don't like it you can put it back.
