man i am sick of the 3.9...is there a swap kit for the 4.7, the 5.2, or even the 5.9? if so would i just order the kit somewhere and then order an engine from dodge? even better, do they make a swap for the hemi to fit gen3 daks?

have you tried talkin to dodge? no i dont mean the dealer, those guys dont know their own a$s from a hole in the ground, but the actual company? as a mopar performance sale item they may be interested in developing that, you never know, maybe you could be their guinea pig.

hell yes, i would put a hemi in my truck if i had the money. but as far as a 318, that will bolt in and you just have to change the computer and add two wires for injectors. motor mounts and all other connections are the same. fan shroud will need to be changed or modified. but thats about it i think, if its a manual you will need the v6 flex plate. but i believe thats everything. goodluck

thanks so much for the info! i think the hemi is out of the question (ie too much of a pain) but i am going to start looking for a 318 now.

When you say a 318 do you mean a 5.2.
Well a 5.2 fit in my 02 3.9 dakota,if so I will soon be on the hunt.

Shumacker has swap kits for all mopars from vans to late model cars to early 60's hotrods. DO a google search on shumacker swap kits and you will get there page. Ill bet money on it that if you call em you can get a hemi in that dakota. ANd on top of that they have computers and whireing kits. GIve em a call they have helped me more than once!!!!

check out the new 4wheel drive magazine, its all about engine swaps and kits, march issue, they put a 5.7 hemi into a jeep wrangler....yeah a wrangler!
so why not a dakota!!!!!
I want to see one in a gen 1.....
I am currently on my GEN 1 project and swapping a 4.0 HO into my dakota...see the post about it...
interesting stuff.....
