I have a 2001 dakota v6 5-speed.When I put the shifter in first gear sometimes it pops out. But only when you first take off.All the other gears shift well.Is there anyone out there that knows what the problem could be.

Well, check tranny oil level for one thing. I have heard that a low level sometimes can cause this.

How many miles? Is it hard to shift (up or down)? Could be low fluid level, wore gears, misaligned transmission(had work done to it lately?), or wore syncros
