Subject: Tranny and Crank? IP: Logged
Message: I'm wondering what kind of power the bottom end can handle on the Magnum 3.9? I'm looking at a combination that will hopefully put out about 330 lb*ft of torque but I want to make sure that the crank and connecting rods can handle the added stress. What about the tranny? I know the the 42RE is notoriously bad from the box, but hope much power/torque can it reliably handle? What kind of mods should I look into for a motor that should put out about 270 hp and 330 lb*ft of torque at the fly? Thanks in advance for any responses.

Message: use a TCI Trans scat 220500 shift kit a new sonnax
TV valve, plunger and sleave the org spring and 2
of the shim washers that come with the valve kit
and the 42 RH will be very aggresive and strong
267/305 at the wheels stroked 3.9
New one
309/322 at the wheels
strokerkits.com sells the kits
the stock lower ends are very stong and can handle
a 100 shot of nitrious very well
Or you can have the crank machined to accept the
heavyer and stronger 318 rod
