Subject: tire question IP: Logged
Message: Hey everyone. I got a 98 dak 4x4. I just bought some american racing rims and I wanted to know what the biggest tire I could fit both the truck and the 15x8 rims. I heard 32's is the biggest but I was wondering if someone knew otherwise. If I put a 3 inch body lift could I fit bigger? thanks

Message: NOT GONNA INSULT YOU! I wanted to go with larger tires just to fill up the wheelwells on my '99 4x2, could fit 31x10.5's but would lose turning radius, so I opted for 255-60R-15 LT all around on the stock alloy rims. the tire dealer had no problem mounting a tire and showing me the difference... talk to them and tell them what you are trying to do, and ask for advice !!! then make your decision. if he (or she) wants to make a sale, they'll help ya.

Message: OOPS ! Sorry, Mine are 255-70R-15 Not 60's
They are Firestone Destination LE, I really like the traction, I can take a "clover-leaf" off ramp at 45-50 mph and haven't had a bit of slippage.

Message: I'm starting to laugh at this "ask the dealer" everybody seems to think the dealer knows whats goin on, but then you read posts and everybody gets bad information and ripped by the dealer. to tell ya the truth its better to ask on here or in this case an off-road forum. we know probably more about these trucks then the dealer does..they dont even know the tricks we do for squeezin a few extra ponies.

Message: you know i found this site about a month or so ago and i am hooked i have a 99 dakota stock for now ha ha. the lift tires and rims are in the mail and I could not of found out any info from one of my local tire dealers all they told me was that they are not responsible for how the tires fit on the truck because im going way oversized so thanks to all who gave me some info but for those of you who told me to do a serch or that you already answered that too many times if you dont want to answer the question then just dont you dont have to give us who are trying to build our trucks for the first time a bunch of crap I thought that this is what the forum was for thanks again for all the helpful info i cant wait till my stuff comes in

Message: yeah, i'm sure we do know more than the dealers as a whole, 93dak. I fixed my truck thanks to this site and no dealers. About the tire question though, I have 31's on my stock 97 4x4 set-up that don't rub. I have the 16" stock dakota wheel, not sure of the offset. A guy down the road from me has a 3" body and fits 33"s niiiiice. Maybe my next project.
