Subject: My Dak keeps fouling plugs IP: Logged
Message: I have a 93 3.9L Dak and it backfires for about 20 minutes untill it warms up. It wont let me rev the rpms above 2,000 untill it gets warm then let's me rev it untill the sun goes down. However, if I let the motor ride below about 1,200 rpms it loses fire and wants to stall out. Someone please help me. I have had it on diagnostics and to two or three machanics and they dont know what the problem is. There is a new crank and temp sensor in it. It's a pain trying to drive reving the motor and changing plugs once a week. Any ideas would really be appriciated. Thanks!!!

Message: change your coil. it may just be that the coil is weak and when it warms up it gets a little stronger. so definetely try changing the coil, they arent that expensive.

Message: sonds like you are runnin rich, lean it out.
most likley they just put a scan tool on it. What it needs to have is a scope that will check things like injector pulse width that a scan tool can't.

Message: uh sense????
you are way off bud, the open loop cycle that is going on when the engine is cold DOES NOT USE FEEDBACK FROM THE O2 SENSOR.
did you miss the part that says: I have a 93 3.9L Dak and it backfires for about 20 minutes untill it warms up
since you seam to not trust the local mechs workin on it call the dealers in the area and ask the service department if they have a scope. THEN WATCH THEM ACTUALLY USE IT. INSIST ON IT!!!

Message: Well, My machanic finally got a good look at my motor and said everything was working fine. Check the codes, sensors and eveything. He said the only thing it can be is the computer. Does this sound right??

Message: no doesnt sound right, the computer is something they always say and its hardly ever bad. change and check your sensors, i paid a dealership 85 dollars to look at my computer/sensors on their diagnostic tool and it couldnt even tell me that my 02 sensor was bad.

Message: He replaced all new sensors to make sure, and it ran the same as it did before. He replaced a lot of new things on it. I'm not getting charched any labor for this so I know he's not trying to screw me over. Is the computer a possibility? This things running funny. The rpm's jump when it finally catches fire.I dunno?

Message: have you checked the distributor for excessive wear? maybe the drive gear is worn or the dist is sloppy? it seems like you checked just about everything else.

Message: Would a O2 sensor make it run rich, and backfire the way it does? To be quite honest, thats the only thing that hasnt been replaced, however it doesnt show up on the diagnostic. But everyone keeps telling me thats not the problem. I dunno?

Message: I justed got off the phone with the mechanic. He said the injector pulse is screwed up. But the injectors are not the problem. Either got to be a bad new Crank sensor, TPS, or O2 sensor. But it does have a new crank sen. in it. Which one is most likely to go bad first?
