Subject: plugged cat? IP: Logged
Message: i had a guy pull me over on the highway today to tell me the under side off my truck was glowing.When i got out to check my cat was cherry red.If my cat is plugged would this be why ive lost power and have misfires and such?ive been having troubles diagnosing my problem and hope you all can shed some light on this. thanks.

Message: If your Cat. is glowing red,then you have a problem. It should never be glowing red. Replace your Cat.,along with your O2 sensor,and hopefully your problems will be sovled. Good luck

Message: at night they do glow red, if you are runnin hard, in 3rd gear at hiway speed or haulin a load.

Message: you shouldnt have a red hot cat, you probably need to replace it and yes it would cause you to run badly and lose power. an overheated cat is also sometimes a sign of a different problem, most likely your truck has a bad oxy sensor or another condition causing it to produce lots of emmisions.
