Subject: superchip questions IP: Logged
Message: i've been saving my money and i've got about $500 to spend. i've got intake, flowmaster 40 in place of stock muffler, plugs, relocated iat. now i wanted to get something like rr's or headers, but i saw some posts on the superchips tuner and it looks pretty good to me. my questions are: do i have to run 89 or 93oct. all the time for any of the settings or just specific ones like performance? and is it better to wait till i get more mods and then buy it or would it be worth it now (as far as telling a difference in performance)? oh, and does anyone know of a place i can get one cheap? thanks for any advice.

Message: DAKKID. Get the Superchips now. It is the best mod available for the V6 3.9. It really adds jump to this motor, and mileage improves as well. The company says not to mod up at all, but they are just covering their a$$. You have to use high test with the performance setting only. With a lot of little mods (t-body, intake, muffler, filter, IAT, rrs), the performance setting advances the timing too much and you might get some pinging, but this can be adjusted for. The towing setting allows you to get away with mid-grade gas or lower.
Incidentally, the Superchips is my favorite mod, and I was pleasantly surprised with the Amsoil (everywhere, and the Fastman throttlebody) also.

Message: Well I thought I would try the Superchips microtuner myself, about a month ago I purchaced one for $400.00. I connected it 2 my 98 Dak with a 3.9 only 2 have it tell me it needed an update by the company. I was refused a refund by the dealer and was forced 2 send it in.. Well I still havent heard from superchips.. and Im getting irritated with the companys lack of comunication. Cant say I would recomend them 2 you as Ive been regreting ever having anything 2 do with them. GL

Message: alright, so i guess the tuner will be my next investment. but i'm definitly going to check into the update thing when i go to buy it. i'm assuming that i will be able to spin the tires when i set it, cause right now it's tough to do that even on a good day and powerbraking. thanks for the advice.

Message: Hey Y'all, I've got a '99 Club-Cab 3.9L Auto-Trans 4x2, I used the "SuperChips" the first week I had the truck, I like the better response I get from the throttle, I did some research before I bought the programmer, make sure you get the updated version when you purchase it (v3715) it is already updated. most of the (v3714) are outdated..
