Message: Is it supposed to? I know the 4-cylinders do, but I don't think my 3.9L does. I'll check my FSM.

Message: Bob, it always did before. i bought the truck w/19,000 miles on it. everytime the A/C comp was on the fan also kicked in. i think the monkeys at the body shop forgot to hook somehthing up.

Message: Look in the power distribution box just behind the battery. On the underside of the lid should be a diagram of fuses and relays. On my 2002 the rad fan relay was closest to the fender and the passenger compartment. Check that relay for function, you can connect the pole closest to the engine to the + bat terminal, the one on the oppisite side to a ground. You should hear, or feel a click as it throws the switch inside. The computer is set to turn the electric fan on when engine temp is 210 F and when the a/c compressor is on.

Message: It's not an electric fan if he has the V-6, which is what this is posted under. My FSM says that the A/C clutch engages the electric fan for the 4-cylinder. The V-6 has a thermal clutch viscous fan that spins at low speeds until the surrounding air changes the viscosity of the silicone fluid around the clutch and it engages, spinning faster. There is nothing to make this fan engage whenever the A/C clutch is engaged. If it doesn't engage with the A/C, then it's just not hot enough under the hood to make it happen.
I just re-read the first post, are you saying the '00 V-6 has an electric fan, unlike older models? Maybe there is a relay loose then.

Message: yes bob, '00 3.9 v6 has electric fan and viscous fan(which i removed). anyway, i checked an '01 FSM. electric fan should run either when engine temp reaches 210 or a/c demand and engine temp above 110. i got it to work correctly. while it was running i pulled the fuse for all relays in the fuse box. then went to the PDC and pulled and reseated the fan relay. it seems to be working ok now.

Message: "COOL" daddio. I recently had to replace the electric fan on my 2002. I went with the perma-cool 16" electric and took off the motor mounted viscous fan. Man this truck has never ran so cool, Guess it helped that I took time to change to a 180 deg. t-stat.
