Subject: intermittant stalling?

Message:
My truck will occasionally just die at a stoplight, and I won't be able to turn over the engine. Then, a few embarassing minutes later, it'll fire right up. Can any of y'all figure that one out? I've had the entire fuel system changed out!
And no, I don't run out of gas!

Give us some info on the truck... could be the crankshaft position sensor... or if it an older Dakota, could be a bad splice in the wiring. Or could be something else...

it's a 1989 3.9l v6. Actually, it just went out on me again. I pushed it to 70, then it made a popping noise like I blew off a hose or something. But then 10 minutes later, it fired right back up.
Thanks for the reply; I'm gonna just throw a grenade under the hood if I can't get this thing running right.

My mechanic said that the codes cleared themselves, but is still running crappy. He also said that if it was a 12 code that I was throwing, a new distributor should do the trick. Is this accurate?

Oh yeah, he told me there was an exhaust manifold leak, too. Is that what could have made that hose-popping noise when I took it up to 70?

My bro-in-law said it could be the coil, and that it was a common problem. What does the coil do and where is it? Is it just called "the coil"?
