Subject: 91 fuel filter IP: Logged
Message: I just bought a 91 dakota from a friend who has never changed the fuel filter. Thought I would until I read in the manual. You have to ground some wires then jump some wires-anybody have an easier way to depressurize the system?

Message: All that for a fuel filter? Are you tring to ching the inline filter that is back by the box on the frame? If so I never let any pressure off I had a clean bucket to catch the liitle bit of gas. Their was only enough gas to cover the bottom of the bucket. Then you just untightend the screws and took it off

Message: Yep, same as above, I changed the fuel filter on my '91 last year (I think it was the original as well). You may want to buy some new little clamps, your originals may be rusty or messed up by the time you get them off. It doesn't lose a lot of gas but be careful that there are not any ignition sources around (i.e. hot shop lamp, let the exhaust cool, smoking etc..)
