O.K heres the deal... bought
My 2000 Dakota...check engine light comes on..no problems, reset computer....exactly 60 miles later check engine light comes back on....Take to autozone(free check)says "emissions leak". tell Zitboy to go back to checking fords....reset computer.....60 miles later check engine light comes back on.
could anybody have any idea? or should I take it to the dealership have them check it out... I have an extended 2yr warrantie up to 80,000 miles.
I currently have 67,000 miles..

Mine go's in next week. I checked mine said small evaportion leak or something thought it was a bad gas cap reset it came back on =(

Why do they want to charge you? Sounds like Dodge to me though. What is their reasoning for not covering it under warranty? Call Dodge directly and tell them about it. I have heard that sometimes they will help and MAYBE put presure on someone. Hope it works out for you. Can't believe that though!

only $75? that's cheap! They charge 80-90 here for the engine diagnostics. And at least the ones here that I've called or been to always try to charge me everytime I want toake the truck in to have it checked out - even if the items in question are non engine related.
I found a really great independent shop here that does great work and always tries to save me money whenever they can.

Haha!!!
My friend is in the automtovie department at college and he took my truck and did a full diagnostics check.FREE. the gas cap was on but not tight enough.problem fixed.... I called the dealership to cancel my apointment... so, Thanx everybody..;)
