Subject: New push rods with R.R.s? IP: Logged
Message: Ok, I just got in my harland sharp RollerRockers (thanks southeastR/T!!!)...anyway, one thing I just got to thinking about. Should I install a new set of pushrods with the Rockers? I will have about 30,000 miles on it when I do the install this weekend. Also, I seem to remember someone said that I would be better off reuseing the stock valve cover gaskets. Is this true? And I shouldn't have to mod the valve covers with the harland sharp, correct? Anyother instalation tips would be welcomed. I have great mechanical ablilties....just have never install Rockers before. Between that and my shift kit, I should have a little more punch come next week.
Thanks
House

Message: No need to mod the valve covers or use new push rods unless you plan on reving past 5500 rpm. I put set of Harland Sharper on a Dak 4x4 with 90,000 mies on it. This past summer I put 6000 miles on the truck with no problems at all. Hope this helps.
92 and 97 Daks both with many mods.

Message: put my harlands on some 8 months ago, work great, i used my
stock pushrods and was able to reuse the valve cover gaskets,
just take your time it's a very easy mod
the trick was finding the adapter i needed for the torque wrench
to accurately torque the rockers down with, wound up rigging a
fitting, sorry can't remember the size

I put a set in and got some ticking and had to
replace the pushrods which mesured from 6.900 to
6.895 .025 to .030 short with 104,000 miles on the
motor
