 Subject: overheating

I have a 3.9 v6 01 dak, the water temp gauge goes from c to h and back to c while norrmal driving also the heater does not blow hot air just cold. where should I start thermo or water pump?

I would start by checking condition and amount of antifreeze. When the last time you changed it?

Check your thermostat . its ontop of the intake manifold under the coolant hose. Its held in by a flange and 2 bolts. kind of looks like a peice of tin and copper with a spring in the middle of it. with a flathead screwdriver, try and gently apply pressure to the valve and compress the spring. if it opens with little effort, it needs replaced. If its a pain to even make it budge, it needs replaced. you should be able to open it with out too much trouble. I had you same exact simptoms(sp?) but 8.99 and 20 minutes later, problem was fixed
