Subject: origin of leak(water) IP: Logged
Message: I've got a leak that I cant find the source of. It drips from the bottom where the engine and tranny meet. It's been there for about 2 years and it doesn't seam to get any worse.but if your like me , leaks drive me crazy. ecspecially one that I cant figure out where it's coming from. I thought maybe a freeze plug, but I dought it. Or maybe the heater core but don't they usually leak on the floorboard? Is there anything else that could be leaking somewhere on the backside of the engine? Any ideas let me know please and thank you.

Message: Your heater core will leak unfortunatly. Where do you find the water? Does it smell like antifreeze? I had water on ther passengers side floor and it has taken me a year to figure out where it comes from. It was actually the back window leaking, or atleast that better be the issue. Does your truck lose any coolant? If you aren't losing any then that might not be the problem.

Message: Yes, On the back of the engine where the intake manifold seals to the block. It is hard to see back there. the first time I worked on my motor and put the intake manifold back on, the rear seal on the intake manifold had moved just a bit and it did not seal. I ended up with a small leak that ran down the back of the motor. I could not see back there though. I took a dry rag and reached back around the distributor and came out with a wet rag.
