Subject: 3.7 and the 3.9 IP: Logged
Message: Was driving home tonight and some guy in a 3.7L Dakota met up with me (i've got a 3.9). He was tearing it up. Sadly I really can't even do burnouts with my 3.9L. Kinda wish I had a 3.7L or even better the 4.7L V8.

Message: i cant say i have ever had any experience with the 3.9 but i do have the 3.7, auto, 4x4, 3.92 rear and i can easily light the tires up from a complete stop. I also have plenty of get up and go at higher rpm's. I wish i would have bought the 8 because i am really not saving any on gas, but i am happy with the 3.7 overall

Message: My 3.9 with a 5 speed and 3.55 gear ratio will burn the tires through third gear (2003 sxt club cab). I have not done many mods to it yet. I only have a flowmaster muffler and an Airaid intake on it at this time.

Message: I have a 2004 3.7L 5 speed 3.55 with the Stampede package and I have no problem spinning them up but I still want more power. The sad thing is, there is very little to do to the 3.7L right now. I have an intake, am going to get a custom exhaust put on, also looking into a fastman TB, and am going to purchase a Jet Chip PCM for the 3.7L Rams (I was told it would work). I think after that I should have a little more power. The only thing is, the PCM says I should have a 180 degree thermostat but I can't find one for this engine. Oh yeah, one more thing, the rear wheel drive sucks in the snow. I'm from Mass and I got stuck on a hill on my way to work for about 15 min before someone helped me. If you want to see a pic of the truck, go here "www.geocities.com/doughrat19/
If anyone knows where I can get a 180 degree thermostat for the 3.7L please let me know.

Message: Man...that's a sharp truck!
You checked Advance Auto Parts/Autozone for the thermostat? Well...scratch Autozone, they only have 195's...or at least the one around me does. I got mine at Advance Auto Parts though...they also carried 160's. That was for the 3.9L but you'd think they'd have the one for yours though...if ain't the same.

Message: Hey, Doughrat19, how is that 2/4 drop, i was looking at the 2/3 Complete TVS Package handling kit from HOTCHKIS, but its a bit pricey at 800+ and the Belltech looks the same, except the sway bars, but you do get nitro shocks, which the HOTCHKIS does not, do you have any clearance issues? does it look leveled? It looks a bit lower in the rear, plus does that help transfer weight to the rear tires when stepping on it? And also, it says for the V8, it will bolt-on with out any driving issue, since it is design for the heavier engine? Thanx for you time.

BTW nice looking truck

Springtech makes a 2/3 kit except with hanger/shackles at the rear. Best part is... they're affordable, $125 minus the shocks. The Bilstein shocks would probably work well with it.

Message: I'm from MA and we had 28 inches. The street wasn't plowed til Sunday 8:00 pm. I had my 4WD Dak ready, facing out before the storm. Just pulled away smoothly and drove to work Monday as usual. I wouldn't have bought it if it weren't 4WD.
BTW, it's a 92 Dak with 3.9L V-6, 4-speed auto, 3.55, club cab with cap, and it will burn rubber at half throttle on dry pavement, breaks loose very easily on wet, and I found it to be quicker and get better mileage than a new Dak that I drove recently: a 2004 QC with 4.7L V-8 and 5-speed auto.

I did. It cost me $10 a day to commute in the rental, less than $8 with my truck. It got no better than 16 mpg, I get 19-20 in my '92.
As for quicker, no contest. As stated, my truck is lighter. I had to bury the throttle into the carpet to get up to highway speed in the same distance as I do with my '92 at half-throttle.

Message: 04silvSXT: I've haven't had to many problems with the drop. It is a very bumpy ride now, but that was to be expected. My front tires rub on occasion, but that happens in the same place so if I drive slow they don't hit. The tires are pretty big so you have to take that into account too. I actually wouldn't mind the front being down a little more, but with the rubbing I already get I don't think it would be wise. As for the sway bar, my truck came with one in the "Stampede" package. I didn't notice any difference in the back tires. I spin them up pretty easy is the snow and rain even when I'm not trying.
Jared: I live in Norton, MA. I'm sure you know the Tweeter Center; I'm about 5 min from there. We got a lot of snow, I would say about 28-30 inches.
I am in the works to get a Throttle body from The Fastman, and once I receive my tax return, I'm going to paint the roll pan I have and get my exhaust put on. Thanks for the positive feedback on the truck guys. I'll keep you posted on any mods in the future.
