Subject: Idle air control motor IP: Logged
Message: Hello fella's. Have any of you ever had any problems with your idle air control motor(iac)? The reason I ask is because ever since I have owned the truck(4 years now) mine has gone to crap about this time every year! It is a 97 3.9 5sp dakota. Usually it will give me about a week of warning by stalling at idle, but this time no luck. I went out to buy some lumber today and the stupid truck wouldn't start. It crankes fine and is definately getting gas, but won't start. It is a little frusterating at $250 a pop to replace this thing every year. Anyway, am I the only one having this problem?

Message: Try cleaning it with carb cleaner
It will start if you hold the gas on a little and
no that is a strage one the IAC going bad so often
I would look for shorted wires

Message: I will try cleaning it. I tried giving it a little gas, hell, even full throttle and it wouldn't start. Of course it is flooded now so I will try again tomorrow. The last time the dealer replaced it they also replaced the connector too, so I wouldn't think that would be it.
