Subject: trans removal IP: Logged
Message: ok, I've owned my 89' 4x4 sport since new, but after 15 years of service I've lost the trans. I've removed transmissions from my 68' R/T and 70 GTX, but this 89' looks like a real pain. Just curious what other folks experiences have been and how much time do you think it will take? Also, any tips/tricks would be appreciated....

Message: its not easy like your cars, but very do-able,
drop the oil from pan, exh.,both drive shafts, linkage, trans.lines, remove transfer, starter, remove torque convertor bolts thru starter hole, loosen the two braces from the motor and motor mounts to the trans[this will make it easier when you reinstall]support trans, remove cross member and trans bolts from engine
about 5hrs out,4hrs if things go good

Message: hey, i had mine replaced, i had a jasper unit put in and it leaks. it is still under warranty, but its very irritating. just letting everyone out there to look out for those units. Also, it has over 200,000 miles on it.
