Hey i have a 2000 dodge dakota 5 speed and i was looking into a 1999 dodge durango, i know that dakotas last a long time thats why i'm keeping mine but my wife wants a durango do they have a good reputation of reliability? thanks for you help

It's the same as your Dakota except it will have an automatic transmission, maybe a few more options (depends on what trim level your Dak is), and the seats will be messed up from someone's kids being in the back seat all the time.

Same engines as Dakotas. I beleive the whole thing is built on the same exact frame as the Dakota. Never looked, but i mean....it almost has to be.

I heard they suck down the gas, but that has been the only thing I've heard. A neighbor of mine had one, and he said it was getting about 12-14mpg.

That year durango was based on the dakota platform. Yeah, you will get bad gas milage with the V-8. But you'll also get power. Remember Dodge strives to be a little bigger, badder, and bolder than those other manufacturers.
