Subject: Question about dodges IP: Logged
Message: Hey i have a 2000 dodge dakota 5 speed and i was looking into a 1999 dodge durango, i know that dakotas last a long time thats why i'm keeping mine but my wife wants a durango do they have a good reputation of reliability? thanks for you help

Message: It's the same as your Dakota except it will have an automatic transmission, maybe a few more options (depends on what trim level your Dak is), and the seats will be messed up from someone's kids being in the back seat all the time.

Message: Same engines as Dakotas. I beleive the whole thing is built on the same exact frame as the Dakota. Never looked, but i mean....it almost has to be.

Message: I heard they suck down the gas, but that has been the only thing I've heard. A neighbor of mine had one, and he said it was getting about 12-14mpg.

Message: That year durango was based on the dakota platform. Yeah, you will get bad gas milage with the V-8. But you'll also get power. Remember Dodge strives to be a little bigger, badder, and bolder than those other manufacturers.
